The Invincible Dead Part 2
Categories: General
When I do colored work I always throw on the color in the pencil stage, then ink over top of that. Mainly so I don’t have to wait for the inks to dry, and sometimes even when the inks have dried the ink can run. And it’s kind of fun doing it that way. Go on kids, try this at home. heh. I add more color after the ink is applied also. I’m still trying to get a feel for Copic markers, I’m not that good at them yet, I feel I add TOO much and it comes out muddy. But hey, I’m working on it. I’ll post the finished pic on Monday. See ya.

I love the light linework on this! I don’t know if it’s cause it’s not finished or what, but it’s cool and different. You should use it on some Invincible flashback sometime as a different style!
Come on Kirkman! Time for Invincible Zombies!
Very nice continuation of the process! I can’t wait to see it when it is done.
Agreed, I can’t wait…*bites nails*
FINISH IT!!!!!!!!!
Looks like you got the hang of the Copic Markers to me! Love the detail on the hands/knuckles!
This blog gets better and better each time I visit! Wow!
Holy crap. That is unreal. I would buy a poster of this anyday and put it above the bed. The wife would love that…heh.
Nice work.
0.o o.0 How do you do it man!!! Amazing!!!
Absolutely kick a**, Ryan! I love the way you’re building the form through the process layers you described. This is going to be (pardon the pun) an incredibly cool piece!!
Quite the interesting technique indeed.
I don’t know why, but it makes me want to bust out my Doc Martin Dyes. Hmm…
Looks like old invincible may have been on the receiving end of one of those Hulkbuster farts. EGAD!
You probably already know this, but prismacolor markers will smudge most inks if you ink first, then add color. Unless you use AD or Copic markers, which btw you look like you’ve mastered! Zombies Rule!
That looks great Ryan! I’ve considered getting COPICs, but how would one clean up the pencil lines afterwards? Photoshop?
DT, I don’t clean up anything. I leave all my work lines.
